This Cookie Policy explains how North OS Technologies Ltd. ("North", "we") uses cookies and similar technologies (local storage, pixels, SDKs) on the North OS website and platform, in accordance with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), UK GDPR and, where applicable, the ePrivacy Directive and US state privacy laws.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help sites function, remember preferences and understand usage.

Our Approach

North OS currently uses essential cookies and storage only. We do not run third-party advertising pixels, we do not use marketing cookies, and we do not load non-essential analytics scripts. Because we only use strictly necessary technologies, we do not display an intrusive cookie consent banner — no consent is required for essential cookies under PECR and UK GDPR.

Categories We Use

1. Authentication cookies (always on). Keep you securely signed in and maintain your session. Without these, you cannot use the platform.

2. Security cookies (always on). Support fraud prevention, CSRF protection and access-gate sessions to keep your account safe.

3. Session storage. Temporary browser storage used while you have the app open — for example, a one-time flag so the boot screen only shows once per session. Cleared automatically when you close the tab.

4. Preference storage. Local storage that remembers your choices — such as light/dark theme and sidebar state — so the app behaves the way you left it. This stays on your own device and is not shared with us.

Third-Party Cookies

We do not set third-party advertising or marketing cookies. Some embedded content (such as video players) and our payment processor may set their own cookies when you interact with them; those providers have their own privacy and cookie policies, which we encourage you to review.

How to Control Cookies

  • Browser controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear local/session storage via settings (typically under Privacy or Security). Blocking essential cookies may break sign-in and core features.
  • Clearing preferences. Clearing your browser storage will reset preferences such as theme and sidebar state.

Retention

Session cookies and session storage expire when you close your browser or tab. Authentication and preference storage persist until they expire or you clear them (typically up to 13 months maximum for persistent cookies).

Changes

If we ever introduce analytics or marketing cookies, we will update this policy and add a proper consent mechanism (Accept All / Reject Non-Essential / Manage Preferences) before setting any non-essential cookie. The "Last Updated" date will be revised accordingly.
